Witch hunter with a man catcher

a23b4-kabuki

Oops… I totally thought I posted this.  I haven’t been posting much since Rose City, which is kind of insane because I’ve been very productive.  I’ve just been wrestling with some stuff that’s a lot bigger than I am.  My apologies.

Speaking of, while I was at that show, a woman asked me to draw one of her characters — a stocky Asian with a sasumata and Kabuki face paint.  That’s all the information she gave me to work with.  It wasn’t until she came by to pick up the drawing that I found out this is her new Dungeons & Dragons character.  Somehow I think that makes it so much cooler.  That’s a very personal relationship — a player and their character.

Hot August Nights

Dude.  I totally forgot these drawings existed until I found them buried in a hard drive.  I had done a drawing on the reverse (that you can kind of see the ghost of) that a good friend showed fond interest in.  I ripped the page out of my sketchbook then and there and handed it to her.  Thankfully she was willing to scan the pages for me and send them to me… which is where I (apparently) forgot about them entirely.  Whoops.

First Grade!

Back during Halloween I came across what was probably the best costume I’ve ever seen.  I think costumes tend to go a little too adult or a little too gruesome, so this was such a breath of fresh air.  She’s a kid on the first day of first grade and her parents let her dress herself.  It was so adorable.  It was heart melting. I had to share it with you good folks sooner or later.

Mad Maxine

I love digging through my wardrobe and coming up with new costumes and characters.  Even more than that I love digging through someone else’s wardrobe because I can’t help but come away with new characters and inspiration.  I think I was going for something post-apocalyptic with this one, but it was still so much fun coming up with it.  “Mad Maxine” is perhaps a little too… cheesy… so I’ll let you know when I come up with something better.

Heya, Half Pint!

I’ve been spending time at a local coffee shop when I have time in the mornings.  The barista there is kinda cute, so I couldn’t stop myself from doing a drawing of her the other morning to break in my new sketchbook.  Then I brought it home and decided to try something other than my normal digital painting;  I pulled out and dusted off my markers and started having some fun.  I think more of these are in store for the days to come.
