Go’n Brush Your Shoulders Off

0058 Ladies is Pimps Too

For the first year with Rose City Comic Con I debuted a poster which has been a mainstay in my inventory, but every so often I’ll get an idea for a new one.  At Rose City this past year I rolled out four new ones!  Honestly, this one was one of my favorites.

Jay-Z got it right: ladies is pimps, too, so they really ought to go on and brush their shoulders off.

Play Like A Girl

0064 Play Like a Girl

Rose City Comic Con was… AMAZING!  (I’m almost recovered…)  It was great to be around so many wonderful and supportive people!  I’d love to thank everyone who stopped to talk to me — and especially the people who tracked me down when they found out I was at the show.  All of you folks are lovely!

This is another of the “Like a Girl” pieces I premiered.  There are a few that I didn’t get to because of time, and a few that I want to explore now that I have a little bit more in the way of time, so you have that to look forward to.

Anyway, the next time you’re rocking out with the air guitar (ahem… bass) go ahead and do it like a girl!

Isn’t She Lovely?

Isn’t she wonderful?  Yeah, she kinda is.

Last year I had the opportunity to show some work with a dear friend of mine and we both independently settled on doing super hero pinups.  I already posted Mystique, but I thought that now would be a good time to get back into showing the rest of them.

Wonder Woman was the only one I was absolutely sure was going to be included in the show, but I didn’t want to give her the same spandex treatment she normally receives, so I went more in line with the Greco-Roman Legionnaire aesthetic.  And now I just want to draw her like this all the time.

Hit Like a Girl

0062 Hit Like a Girl

Rose City Comic Con is coming up this weekend, and I’ll have a table again for the third year in a row!  That seems like kind of a big deal for me, so I’m debuting a new series of posters in which I encourage everyone to do things “like a girl”!

So go on and hit one out of the park!

Nora Valkyrie

Friends of mine have teenage daughters and sometimes those girls ask me to draw things.  If nothing else it keeps me up-to-date on what’s popular out there.  (Otherwise I’d never leave my little hole, I’m rather certain.)

I promised to draw Nora Valkyrie — a character from a web series titled RWBY  — for one of my friend’s daughters if she got caught up on a comic project she’s doing for school.

Mystique.

Back in November I had an opportunity to show some small paintings at a coffee shop here in town.  I was fortunate to share the show with a dear friend of mine.  I honestly can’t remember how we both wound up doing super hero pieces (I think it just wound up that way) but in the end I did twelve small watercolors — six from the Marvel universe and six from the DC universe.

It only recently occurred to me that I still need to post them to the blog.  Mystique will get the ball rolling for us…
